Competition for contemporary choreographers and young dancers

As participants in the competition, choreographers and dancers from around the world, are requested to perform a solo piece which is new, original, imaginative, unique and which displays unusual achievement. Thus, the festival will provide an overall view of the latest trends in the solo-dance-theatre scene. The well-known (oder respected) jury will judge choreographic and dance skills as well as musicality, interpretation and performance.

The following prizes will be awarded:


1st prize for choreography € 3.500

2nd prize for choreography € 2.500

3rd prize for choreography € 1.500


1st prize for dancing € 3.500

2nd prize for dancing € 2.500

3rd prize for dancing € 1.500

audience prize € 555

The organizers and the art director are not members of the jury. The decisions of the jurys will be taken behind closed doors . The jury's decision is final and binding.

Requirements
Choreographers and dancers may participate in the competition with a solo piece that is presented either as a premiere or which has been performed on stage for the first time within the last 12 months. The interpretation of the solo piece lies entirely within the hands of the choreographer. The presentation must have a minimum length of 8 minutes and a maximum length of 12 minutes. Unfortunately, expensive stage designs or lighting cannot be accepted. Music must be provided either on compact disc, minidisk or DAT.


The first round decisions of the competition will take place between Thursday and Saturday evening in front of an audience and expert jury. The final will be held on Sunday evening. A maximum of 75 minutes is available to all competitors for rehearsals and stage setting on the day of the performance.


Hotel including breakfast will be paid by the organizers; travel costs will be reimbursed in a lump-sum. The award winners agree to give "winners's Gala" performances for a fee. The tour will take place for two weeks in November 2009. Travel expenses, overnight costs and catering will be paid.


There is no entrance fee. The choreographers and dancers, who are allowed to take part in the competition will be informed by the end of December 2008. No information will be available prior to that date.


The complete application must be sent in at the latest by 11th November 2008. However applications only complete after a DVD of the submitted choreography (rehearsal recording also possible) or of a current solo piece with a maximum duration of 15 minutes has been received by the organizers. Please note the title of the piece and the ID-number you will be given on registration and send it to the following address at the latest by 11th November 2008 (date as per postmark):
